About The Farm

Green Goose Farm started in 2012 as a small, diverse livestock operation nestled on a historic property whose roots reach back to an 1890s homestead — originally a working chicken farm. We raise sheep, pigs, and various poultry, and we are slowly restoring the land to full operation and livability.

Our practices draw from Permaculture and Regenerative Agriculture, primarily through intentional animal impact and the planting of trees, bushes, and pasture. The land itself is our teacher, and every season brings new lessons.

Why We Are Forming This Club

Many people dream of having their own farm one day, but few of us can realize that dream. We know that living and working on this land is a privilege — and we want to share it with others.

We also know that society is suffering from a lack of connection: to each other, to the land, and to our food. We are cash poor but land rich, and like the poor everywhere, we want to help others. We also want to have fun and meet good people.

🌿

Who Should Apply

We find that people who thrive on a farm bring a particular mix of character and intention. You might be a great fit if you recognize yourself in several of these qualities:

You are open to creating new connections, thinking differently about this world and our place in it. You seek direction beyond a job or career, and you want to contribute to something better.

🌻

What to Expect

This is not a farming class or an internship — it is a group experiment. Participants will plan and solve crop-growing strategies together, from developing the garden plot through to final harvest. Most of the work will be carried out independently by Club members, as the host farmer's time is already committed to other property operations.

The type and amount of vegetables grown will depend on the Club itself, with some seeds provided by the Farm. Fertility for food grown will come from animal manures produced on-site.

We hope to gather for lunch breaks together on Saturdays, with other occasional Club meetings throughout the season. Community and shared meals are as important to us as the harvest.

While the growing season is six months, you may only be able to commit to part of that time. That is fine; this is not a job but an opportunity. Initial membership is for 6, but we will maintain a waitlist to replace those who cannot stay, or you can share a spot with a friend. All applicants will be interviewed and screened based on compatability and potential to benefit from the experience.

Finally, expect to get hot and tired, maybe sore in the back. Expect to talk while working, or be on your own pulling weeds. Expect to fall in love with some farm animal. Expect to have fun.
